Morgan's 1st birthday

Morgan turned 1 on Tuesday! Matthew and I sang Happy Birthday to her 1st thing in the morning. She thought it was the funnest thing. She's starting to dance whenever she hears music, esp at church. It's very cute. She's been walking for a couple weeks now, and is on the go non-stop, her babbling is just as frequent. Morgan and I spent the day by 1st taking Reagan (our dog) out for his walk, and then swimming in Sis. Castle's pool. The rest of the day was filled with a couple naps and party preparations.

(the cake picture is supposed to be here, instead of being the 1st thing you see... but alas, it is not)
We had a good turn out. Mostly family came, with the addition of a couple of friends of ours that are in our ward. The cake decorations were due to Matthew's great talent.

Morgan got more than plenty of very fun presents. She got a couple of toys that make noise (fun for mom, right?) and she got several cute outfits, some balls, toy cars, books, and a cute purse from my mother-in-law that has a debit card, mirror, lipstick, and cell phone, all the things a 1-year-old girl could ever need. It's cute.

Morgan was pretty timid about digging into the cake. She poked at it a little bit, but was much more comfortable with making a mess once we gave her a utensil to do it with. All in all I'd have to guess that she had a good first birthday. We love you Morgan!

freedom is not free

I watched the flag pass by one day It fluttered in the breeze A young marine saluted it and then he stood at ease I looked at him in uniform So young so tall so proud With hair cut square and eyes alert He'd stand out in any crowd I thought how many men like him Had fallen through the years? How many died on foreign soil? How many mothers tears? How many pilots planes shot down? How manmy died at sea? How many foxholes were soldiers graves? No, freedom is not free. I heard the sound of taps one night, When everything still. I listened to the bugler play, And felt a sudden chill. I wondered just how many times that taps had meant "amen" when a flag had a coffin, Of a brother or a friend. I thought of all the children, Of the mothers and the wives Of fathers sons and husbands, With interrupted lives. I thiught about a graveyard At the bottom of the sea, Of unmarked graves in Arlington, No freedom is not free. Grandpa Bill

I AM FAT

I really love the members of the church however they feel that they need to feed you every time you see them. I am not trying t to complain though. I am very grateful. How ever I want all my family to know before I get home that I am much FATTER then when I left. Just so you know I gained 30 lbs which puts me at 225lbs. I know I am a heffer. I think the reason I am telling everyone is because I am very self conscious and I didn't want there to be any surprises. I hope every one still loves me for who I am and not what I look like. You can just look it as there is more to love. Mom you look amazing, Sara you look amazing and that is all that I have recently seen. I hope that alot of the weight will come off when I get back home. Mom and Dad you guys just have to look for a short fat boy in a suite with a name tag coming off the plane and then you will find me. when you read this please past the word, That way no one is surprised. I am sorry i am so insecure about my self. That is how i have always been and hope and pray the lord will give me the strength to overcome that. I love you all and hope you would leave a comment. Take care.

This One's For Sam Layton...

Last weekend Matt and I drove down to Utah so I could attend the Outdoor Convention for a store I'm involved in. It's not open to the public so it was something I've never done before. It was by far one of the funnest things I have ever seen/done. They have anything you can think of there that has to do with the outdoors so of course, I was in heaven. And the best part is you get to demo all the gear right there and sometimes they'll send you home with it too. I came across a booth that was selling something called the "utility kilt" and I just about peed my pants! These guys are for real and they are selling kilts made out of charhart type material for construction workers (lets just hope they don't work high risers)and outdoor people. I wanted to take a picture to show Matt when I got home so bad so we could sit back and laugh while we imagine sending one to Sam but they don't let cameras in the event for obvious reasons. Lucky for me my boss and I caught one of them outside the convention and he was more than happy to snap a photo. So there you go Sam! Expect it in the mail this Christmas. It'll be all the rage in about 10 years I predict.

It was a fun trip. Busy busy busy from morning to night, but I'll be ready to do it again in about 6 months for the winter show! I'll post more pics on my page later tomorrow.

GUESS WHAT???????

I have been accepted into BYU Provo. I will be going there in January to start my long journey in the pre-dentistry program. My goal is to become an oral surgeon and some day run my own practice. The Lord has blessed me so much.

Mayberry cousins in Utah

Clouds in Cochise county, Ariz.

Here I am in Wentzville. It is as warm as Tucson or Phx. I am having a sweltering good time.
It's 10:30 and we had our Sunday Naps, What the Heck are we going to do now that the giggles have started. Here are some pictures of the last few weeks of my journies.....

Reverence

Our lesson in relief society was on reverence, and being more reverent. I just want to thank mom and dad for teaching us that Sunday was the Lord's day and it was special. I have tried to teach that same feeling for the sabbath to my kids and grandkids. It makes the week go so much better, if you start the week out with a day of rest from this world. We don't get enough time to reflect on our blessings and express our gratitude to the Lord, during the rush of the work week. Having Sunday to re-group is such a blessing. Getting to spend time with my family without the world intruding is such a great gift from our Father. Thanks again mom and dad!

Cochise Stronghold

The Mayberry Cousins have a campout the weekend before school starts. We go into the Dragoon Mts. at Cochise Stronghold. The Apache Chief, Cochise surrendered to the government at council rock in the Dragoons. It is a great place to camp and there are pitroglyphs( sp ?)to hunt and study. WE love having a great time getting together and having opportunity to share our testimonies and just catch up with everyone.
Ralph and I haad fun meeting with Sam and Elaine, Matt and Lorelynn, and Mom and Dad at Famous Dave's BBQ. It was just nice to be thogether. Even if we ate off a garbage can lid and the light fixtures are buckets. FUN. Just a note of thanks to Brent and Jamie for hosting me on my trip to Ut&Mt. I sure enjoyed seeing everyone and appreciate your loving care.
